The 4th Battalion, Royal 22nd Regiment will perform its Freedom of the City march on Sunday, September 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to mark the City of Laval’s 60th anniversary.
The Freedom of the City is a military tradition in which a city officially authorizes a regiment to march through its streets with drums beating, flags flying, and bayonets fixed.
For the occasion, a hundred soldiers dressed in military uniforms and parade dress, will be taking part in this event, which will be attended by Mayor Stéphane Boyer.
The schedule includes a parade with regimental music, consecrated flags, a red guard, and a visit from Batisse the goat, the mascot of the Royal 22nd Regiment, a gift from Queen Elizabeth II.
1:00 p.m.: Departure from the Armory
1:50 p.m.: Arrival at Centropolis
2:00 p.m.: Start of the ceremony at the Place Centrale
2:30 p.m.: End of the ceremony - Departure from Centropolis
